Canada Gallery put RJ front and center at Art Basel-Miami. You may have seen her in Bomb, too.

One of the images from Rose’s My Art Show series from this Hyperallergic write up caught my eye, and glad it did. Using found materials is a cousin, I think, of the sort of automatism that is the root of much abstract painting. Her mimic pieces are great examples of true abstraction as well, I find, and also utilize found objects.

Great retrospective of Corrine Michelle West’s work is up at Hollis Taggart. I think it is the essence of Modernist conceptions of “the Artist” (and truly American) in spirit that so many women made such great work during this era despite knowing it might never be seen let alone influence the canon. They were all painting a new world.

I’ve followed Kathryn on IG for a while (I’m not alone with 39k follows)- she’s shown with Heather Day and recently made below as part of a residency at Pada Studios.

I hope I get to see one of Sarah’s installations soon (she shows with Tanya Bonakdar). Her paintings are pretty fantastic also.

Glad to see Ms Riley get a much deserved and well received retro. Hard to overstate her importance to the canon.

While both canon icons are deceased, a Two Coats article on a posthumous show at their foundation spurred me to create a Pinterest for Pat, only to find that their algorithms also thought it a sensible pairing with Milton.
