I also have chosen to take some time at the end of the year to reflect on local exhibits which I found exciting (2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 editions).
This blog began as a sort of diary of the artists I learned about as I restarted a practice that had slept for more than a decade. This became a daily practice for many years- one blog, one specific artist. That project will remain here for some time, and I cherish its role in my practice.
Over time I began to use the native WordPress functions of this site to catalog my own practice. I wrote at first to create a running narrative of my portfolio, in particular once I started making installation work in addition to paintings. I also began curating, which entailed writing critically about general concepts and engaging with the work of others. Eventually the blog itself came into focus as part of my practice, and now includes a bimonthly practice of long form. Hopefully 2026 takes my writing to new places- in March of this year I was published for the first time by the Southeast’s own Burnaway.
