Curating

Curating exhibits is a strategy I use in my practice to take on concepts that can’t be addressed by exhibiting my work. I am also drawn to the compositional challenge (and opportunity) of selecting and arranging works by different creatives in the same space to create dialogue between them. The ultimate goal and draw is art critical engagement- identifying something that is “at stake” and marrying the written hypothesis with the visual manifestation of said theme. Below are in reverse chronological order.

Extra Spectral (Durham Art Guild, April 2023)

Open Source (Lump Project Space and Sertoma Arts Center June 2023, Wilma Daniels Gallery March 2024)

Modernism Redux (Diamante Arts and Cultural Center, Jan/Feb 2025)

village impulse (Birdland, July 2025)

I also served as a member of the curatorial collective and gallery network Tiger Strikes Asteroid’s Greenville, SC, site for three years, and was able to be part of organizing several exhibitions there, including The Kármán Line, Friends from Work and Surviving the Burn.

I look forward to adding a couple more to this list over the course of 2026. Stay tuned and subscribe to follow along.

PS- I have recently chosen to take some at the end of the year to reflect on curatorial work by others in my community which I found exciting (2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 editions).
