Aaron Parazette

I got to take some classes with Aaron when I was at the University of Houston. At the time he was in the midst of a “movement” I can’t describe any better I think than cool abstraction. It was so refreshing after my somber undergrad experience. More on that.

Nava Lubelski

While looking at the Mint Museum’s website for info on Thomas I found this good interview with Nava.

Laurie Fendrich

Two Coats posted a great essay by Laurie, who is also a painter, earlier this month. As a self-identified formalist I find myself also asking what good is abstract painting often as well (more of my thoughts on that here, recently updated as a result of reading Laurie’s essay).

Bethany Czarnecki

Two Coats says (about Bethany’s newest at Massey Klein), while resolutely abstract from a strictly visual standpoint, Czarnecki’s work metaphorically zones in on human contact and cognitive limitation.

Konvergenz (article by Boooom) shows Rots has some formalist tendencies.

Pablo Palezuelo

Was born in and ended his life in Spain having absorbed and interpreted European and American Modernism.

More (I like his work from the latter part of the 20th century best)
