The blog about Robert inspired me to look back into the last century. Regular readers know I often make Pinterest boards of artists as I’m looking at their work- here’s one of Lee’s work. I’ve been a big fan of Lynda since discovering her poured work during my undergrad days. Seeing her work getting new juxtapositions inspired a revisiting of some like Contraband and Wing.
Mack’s paintings investigate how different materials reflect identity. He also works in other media. Artforum caught this recent show (which caught my eye because Linda Benglis is a personal fav).

Was reading in this great article on #cecilybrown (who is not an abstractionist and is IMO one of our best living painters) that she is influenced by Howard (quite literally as in she met him several times), who is another member of the canon that I’ve not previously covered here.
Howard is no longer with us but his estate has an IG feed and here’s more and more.

One of my favorite things about living in Houston was visiting the Cy Twombly gallery at the Menil museum. I can’t think of many other artists whose work can create the kind of visceral connection that his does- I think of it first when discussions veer towards work that is beyond words or language.
