Oct small study

(last update 10/31/19)

Started this one from the same transparency I used for a larger piece. I’ve been thinking a good bit about the implications of re-using a composition, and am settling on the idea that the experience of the viewer is the work, and further that- if the work is its own subject- then that includes the relationship of a single composition to multiple finished pieces. I also re-revisited the idea that the composition might be more place-like if it was situated over a ground, verses the approach that that canvas edges are a cropped “frame.” Another new approach with this piece was to add the initial tone (the blue in this case) as if there is a consistent, directional light source.
